The Gymnasium Museum invites students and teachers to the exhibition "The Holocaust: A Tragedy and a Terrible Lesson for Humanity". Factual materials include documents, memories of eyewitnesses, photographs revealing the events of the Holocaust, showing the Holocaust as a crime against humanity. The exhibition also presents research by the gymnasium students on the history of Smorgon ghetto, materials from the Holocaust Foundation Center, with which the gymnasium museum maintains contact.
The exhibition primary mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge about this unprecedented tragedy; to preserve the memory of those who suffered; and to encourage its visitors to reflect upon the moral and spiritual questions raised by the events of the Holocaust as well as their own responsibilities as citizens of a democracy.
International Holocaust Remembrance Day urges every member nation of the U.N. to honor the memory of Holocaust victims, six million Jews, “one third of the Jewish people, along with countless members of other minorities,” and encourages the development of educational programs about Holocaust history to help prevent future acts of genocide.International Holocaust Remembrance Day urges every member nation of the U.N. to honor the memory of Holocaust victims, six million Jews, “one third of the Jewish people, along with countless members of other minorities,” and encourages the development of educational programs about Holocaust history to help prevent future acts of genocide.
