Smorgon and its owners

The first mentioning of Smorgon dates back to 1503. Since 1628 the place was part of the Radziwills possessions. The Radziwills founded here the Bear Training School, which went down in history as the Bear Academy.

The collection "Inventories of the magnate possessions of Belarus XVII - XVIII centuries."The possession of Smorgon". Mn., "Science and Technology", 1977, 256 pp. (KP 7).
The collection includes 9 inventories representing descriptions of the estate and farmhouses with property; lists of residents and local residents that are part of the feudal estates, indicating their land plots, family composition, as well as a list of feudal groups of individual population groups.
Donated to the museum by T.K. Muskaya, a teacher of School №4 on November 26,1996.

The woodcarving «A bear-handler with a Bear" (KP 216, KP 217).
The work was made by the national master Sergey Vladimirovich Suliy.
The height of the sculptures is 53 cm.
Donated to the museum by M.A. Sologub, a teacher of primary classes of Secondary School No. 4, on March 25, 1998.
