Smorgon at the beginning of the XX century
In 1904, Smorgon got the status of a town. It was the largest industrial center in the west of the Russian Empire, enterprises for processing local raw materials prevailed here.
Passport book #383. Issued to Maria Denisovna Popova on March 2, 1900; a teacher of Zhmerynsk two-class railway school (KP 28).
The book consists of 20 pages and a leather cover, which are stapled with metal staples.
The book dimensions: 16 cm by 10.5 cm.

Certificate No. 5087 issued to Maria Danilovna Popova on February 6, 1913 (KP 31).
The certificate confirms that M.D. Popova served in the South-Western Railway since January 1, 1897.
The certificate is a standard form, consisting of two sheets of 22 cm by 17.5 cm.

The Signboard “Crossing guard. L.R. Railway 71 ”(KP 73).
The metal sign with the inscription was on the house in Medvedskaya Street, where a watchman of Libavo-Romenskaya railway lived.
The diameter of the sign is 9.5 cm.

Railway seals (KP 1169).
Lead seals were used on the railway to seal cargo.
On the seal with a diameter of 2.5 cm, the inscription is read: “st. Globino ";
on the seal with a diameter of 2 cm - "st.Krevo".

A Medallion (KP 1017).
A Jewish medallion, 2.8 cm in diameter, depicting the synagogue on the one side and the image of Moses on the other. There are Hebrew inscriptions on both sides.

Shkalik (KP 10).
Shkalik is a measure of alcohol (1/200 of a bucket).
A small metal cup with a handle, 5 cm high; bottom diameter - 5 cm, neck diameter - 3.8 cm.
The inscriptions are read on the cup: “1/200 buckets; HAIM LAVNIK; VILNA; 1894 ".

A wooden hand mill for grinding coffee beans, pepper ...
It belonged to the Zeynalov family at the beginning of the 20th century.

The crockery with a stamp, which indicates that it was made at the factory of M.S. Kuznetsov (early twentieth century).

The cupronickel cup holder (early 20th century) belonged to the Pozdnyak family, Moscow.

Extract No. 1797 from the land register of the Vilna Notarial Archives for Sventiansky district of 1914 (KP 26).
The extract confirms that the peasant Andrei Vikentiev Podlyashuk sold the land belonging to him to the peasant Foma Petrov Rogach in the village of Kozeneny, Dubatovskaya volost, Sventiansky district, Vilna province.
The document is written on two sheets of 35.5 cm by 22 cm with the signature of a notary and the seal of the Vilna Notary Archives. The text reads well.

The certificate was issued on August 26, 1914 by the Council of Oryol Diocesan Women's School to Evdokia Aldoshina confirming that she passed the tests at the Council of the School and was awarded the title of a teacher of the parish school.
The certificate is printed on an official form measuring 36 cm by 21.5 cm, with signatures and a seal.

A metal plate measuring 8.5 cm by 6 cm with a slot for the face and an image of folded hands; there are 6 holes for attaching to the icon and a hook.
Found during field work in the village of Sosnovka, Smorgon District.

The fold of John the Baptist (KP 1269).
Copper folding door with the image of John the Baptist with a font. There is a hole in the upper part of the sash. The text is well read.

Metric extract from the original book of St. Jacob’ Vilna Roman Catholic church about those born in 1888 under No. 162 on page 23 (KP 25).
The extract confirms the baptism of Nikolai-Kazimir, the son of Ivan and Yulia Martsinkevich Maslovsky, in the church of St. Jacob on June 5, 1888. The extract was made on August 22, 1912.
The document is written on a sheet of 37 cm by 23 cm, signed by the rector of St. Jacob’s, with the church seal and the stamp. The text is well read.

The notarial document certifies the signatures of the reserve warrant officer Methodius Feliksovich Kozlovsky and the son of the priest Leonid Fedorovich Druzhilovsky, who are witnesses of those wishing to enter into a legal marriage between Mitrofan Ivanovich Ryabov and Maria Danilovna Popova.
The document is written on a sheet of 37 cm by 23 cm, signed and sealed by a notary, with two official stamps. The text reads well.
