Appeal to the historical memory of the people, to the lessons of history is always relevant. This year marks the 210th anniversary of the French Emperor Napoleon's invasion of Russia. His troops passed through the Belarusian lands twice: in June and December. Both Napoleon and Field Marshal Kutuzov visited our city. It was in Smorgon that Napoleon decided to leave his army and escaped to France. In our museum an exhibition and excursion dedicated to the events of the Patriotic War of 1812 were held. The illustrations depicting our town and our district made by artists who witnessed those events were of particular interest to the students.
